Tinubu Lays Down the Law at FEC Meeting, Backs Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff

President Bola Tinubu has set the tone for his administration by issuing a stern warning to unauthorized persons who have been accessing the Council Chambers of the State House.

He also declared his full support for his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and urged an end to all malicious attacks against him.

The president made these remarks on Monday, while chairing the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Council Chambers. The meeting came shortly after the Supreme Court confirmed his victory in the February 25 presidential election.

The president said he was aware of the rumours and stories circulating about his government, and admitted that he could make mistakes. He said he was willing to correct his errors and join hands with others to fight corruption and enforce the law.

He said he had absolute confidence in the integrity of his Chief of Staff, who he described as a loyal and competent aide. He said all campaigns of calumny and insinuations against him should stop, as he was responsible for his actions.

He said his government was committed to delivering good governance to the Nigerian people, and that perfection belongs only to God Almighty.

The president also led the council in observing a minute of silence for a former FEC member and ex-Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Adamu Fika, who passed away last week at 90.

The FEC meeting later went into a closed-door session, with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan; Chief of Staff to the President, Honourable Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; and all the ministers, in attendance.
