The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has a new Comptroller General (CG), Caroline Wuraola Adepoju, who was confirmed by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.
She announced her confirmation to the NIS staff during the CG’s parade in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Adepoju, who had been serving as the acting CG since May 29, when the former acting CG, Isah Jere, completed his tenure, said that she would soon be decorated as the substantive CG.
She attributed her confirmation to the grace of God and the benevolence of the present government, according to a statement by the Public Relations Unit of the Service.
She also revealed that some top management team members, who participated in a promotion exam, have been promoted to the ranks of Deputy Comptrollers General, and that their decoration date would also be communicated soon.
Adepoju also paid tribute to the NIS officers who lost their lives in the line of duty some weeks ago, and asked for a minute of silence in their honour. She prayed that God would grant their souls eternal rest.
She expressed her gratitude to all the officers and men of the NIS for their support and cooperation. She specially acknowledged the top management team, Zonal Coordinators, State Comptrollers and Passport Officers both at home and abroad.
