Osun State governor, Gboyega Oyetola has shutdown the Baptist High School, Gbodofon, Osogbo, as some irate students engaged teachers in physical duel and vandalized school properties.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Education, Mr Oladoyin Folorunsho gave the order while inspecting the school to assess the level of damage by the irate students.
It was gathered that some students and teachers in the school engaged physical fight, wielding cutlasses and sticks, a situation that caused tension in the area.
It would be recalled that violent clash ensued between students and teachers of the school which resulted in three students sustaining cutlass cuts and property worth several thousands of Naira belonging to the school were destroyed
It was gathered that some teachers, who had guts, had also wielded cutlasses to attack the students in self defence.
Other teachers of the school were said to have been locked up for minutes while the clash lasted.
There was commotion within the school premises as everyone scampered for safety.
During the clash, three students of the school were said to have sustained cutlass cuts.
The students, who attacked the teachers and other students were said to have damaged some of the school properties.
A student who pleaded anonymity told journalists that the duel started last week Wednesday when some unknown students stormed the school.
“We saw some students last week Wednesday in our school armed with machete and this made everyone to run for their lives.
“Although, hardly will a month pass that we don’t experience something like this and whenever such occurs, some of the irate students usually lock our teachers in their staff room.
