The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a mix of sunshine, haziness, and localized weather conditions across the country from Wednesday through Friday.
In its weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja, NiMet forecasted moderate dust haze in the northern region on Wednesday, with localized visibility reduced to 1,000 meters or less. The North Central region is expected to experience slight dust haze throughout the day, while the southern region will see sunny skies with a hazy atmosphere, accompanied by early morning mist and scattered cloud patches.
Thunderstorms with light rain are anticipated during the afternoon and evening in parts of Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom States.
For Thursday, the northern region is projected to remain under moderate dust haze, with visibility in some areas limited to 1,000 meters or less. The North Central region will also experience moderate dust haze, while the southern region is expected to have sunny skies with a hazy atmosphere.
By Friday, dust haze is forecasted for both the northern and North Central regions, whereas the southern region will continue with sunny skies interspersed with patches of clouds.
NiMet advised the public to take precautions due to the presence of dust particles in the atmosphere, which could exacerbate respiratory conditions such as asthma. The agency emphasized the importance of adhering to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities and encouraged airline operators to obtain detailed, airport-specific weather reports for effective operational planning.
