Properties worth millions destroyed in Ekiti as fire razes popular market
The Properties and Goods worth millions of naira, were on Saturday, destroyed when fire razed some shops at the popular Shasha market in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The Shaha market, located along Ado road in the community, and populated by Hausa traders.
The fire, which according to eyewitnesses, suddenly surged at about 2.30 pm and gutted about 10 shops, destroying the property therein.
Though the cause of the fire couldn’t be ascertained, a source told Newsflash Nigeria that a power outage causes the incident.
According to the report, it took the efforts of some shop owners and passersby to put out the fire.
It was gathered that the officers of the Federal Fire Service arrived at the scene a bit late.
