Dr. Dayo Oladebeye, a Mechanical Engineer has been appointed as the Acting Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti with effect from today, Monday 18th December 2017.
The appointment, by the Governing Council, followed the expiration of the tenure of Dr. Taiwo Akande, who served out her two-term tenure of eight years in the saddle as Rector effectively by midnight of Sunday 17th December 2017.
By the appointment at the order of the Chairman, Chief Austin Edeze, on behalf of the Governing Council, Dr. Oladebeye, who is a serving Deputy Rector and current President of the Alumni Association, thus becomes the first Alumnus of the Institution to become the chief executive of the 40-year-old Polytechnic.
The new Acting Rector, joined the services of the Polytechnic on 30th December 1987, having graduated from the Institution with HND distinction in mechanical engineering in 1986.
Widely published as a scholar, Dr. Oladebeye who obtained higher degrees from two other institutions, including the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA where he earned a Ph.D., is a COREN registered Engineer among other professional bodies which he belongs.
Oladebeye, born on 20th November 1962, Dr. Oladebeye joined the services of the Polytechnic in December 1987 and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer effective from 1st January 2007. He was appointed the Deputy Rector in charge of Special Duties and Revenue Generation for the Polytechnic in 2014.
