Newsflash Nigeria gathered that a cross-section of members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly holding a plenary session amidst tight security.

The assembly complex is surrounded by armed policemen who barred both journalists and workers from gaining entry.

Some political loyalists were also seen in groups around the complex.

It was gathered that the sitting was in connection with the leadership tussle rocking the house.

Our correspondent can not confirm the exact number of lawmakers and their numbers at the close-door plenary.

Sources gathered the new Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Gboyega Aribisogan to be impeached and will be replaced by the candidate of the former governor of the state Bunmi Adelugba.

Newsflash Nigeria had earlier reported that Aribisogan had raised the alarm over planning by the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, to impeach him.

Aribisogan made this know on Sunday during a live appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics monitored by Newsflash Nigeria.

Mr Aribisogan alleged that the former governor Dr Kayode Fayemi was working with members of the state legislature to oust him.

The Speaker placed the blame at the foot of Fayemi, querying the former governor for failing to acknowledge him since his election as Speaker.

“The majority of members of Assembly voted for me but few of them who felt perhaps I did not follow the directive of the former governor, Dr Fayemi, thought that they would make the state ungovernable for even the administration,” Aribisogan said during a live appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

“I didn’t have any quarrel with him. I sent a message to him even last night asking, ‘What is happening? Am I no longer one of your loyalists? Why did you not congratulate me?’

“Up till now that I’m speaking with you, he has not done anything. Otherwise, he has been going around calling our members to go and impeach me tomorrow (Monday). That is the truth.

“As I’m speaking with you, seven of our members are locked up in Fem Guest House in Ado Ekiti, planning on how to impeach me tomorrow in cahoots with some of his former aides like the former commissioner for justice.”
