Ogun Police Nabs Two Suspects with Stolen Turkey and Foodstuffs

The Ogun State Police Command and the So-Safe Corps have arrested two men who allegedly stole a live turkey and various foodstuffs from shops and houses in the Oke-Ejigbo area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

The suspects, identified as Kolawole Shobowale and Moruf Soyoye, were apprehended on Sunday morning following a tip-off from a So-Safe Corps officer, Commander Lawal Mudashiru.

According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, Mudashiru had spotted a three-man gang carrying a live turkey with blood-stained legs and other items. He trailed them to their houses and alerted the police.

The police and the So-Safe Corps operatives then surrounded the houses of the suspects and arrested two of them, while one escaped.

Odutola said the suspects confessed to the crime and revealed that they had been terrorising and breaking into shops and houses in Oke-Ejigbo.

She said the items recovered from their houses included one live turkey, kegs of palm oil, kegs of vegetable oil, a half bag of rice, Indomie noodles, macaroni, detergents, toothpastes, phones, GOtv decoder, sacks of clothes, insecticide, soaps among other foodstuffs and home use commodities.

She added that many residents of Oke-Ejigbo had visited the Oke-Itoku Police Division to identify and claim their stolen goods.

She said the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CIID) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
