NNPCL Commits to Achieving 2MBPD Crude Production in Nigeria by December

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has pledged to achieve a crude oil production target of two million barrels per day (MBPD) by the end of December 2024.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, the state-owned oil company revealed that it reached 1.8 MBPD of crude production and 7.4 billion standard cubic feet (bscf) of gas in November 2024.

Lawal Musa, Chief War Room Coordinator of the Production War Room and Senior Business Adviser to the Group Chief Executive Officer, expressed confidence in meeting the 2 MBPD milestone.

“With sustained momentum and active collaboration among stakeholders, particularly on security, we are optimistic about achieving 2 MBPD by year-end,” Musa stated.

Group Chief Executive Officer Mele Kyari commended the Production War Room Team for spearheading Nigeria’s crude production recovery.

“The team has excelled in not only restoring production but also driving it to levels that align with the expectations of our shareholders and the mandates from the President, the Honourable Minister, and the Board,” Kyari said.

Meanwhile, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, speaking at the Comptroller General of Customs Conference in Abuja, credited improved security in the Niger Delta for the recent surge in crude oil production.
