Nigeria’s Tallest Man, Afeez Agoro, Passes Away at 48 After Battling Chronic Illness

Nigeria has lost one of its tallest men, Afeez Oladimeji Agoro, who died at the age of 48 after suffering from a prolonged sickness.

The actor and model, who stood at an astounding height of 7 feet 4 inches, was reportedly ill for months due to a chronic hip arthritis.

Agoro, who was popularly known as Nigeria’s tallest man, had appealed for financial assistance in May to undergo a ball and socket joint replacement surgery and subsequent therapy. He said he needed ₦‎5 million to cover the expenses of his treatment and that he had been bedridden for eight months.

The late computer science graduate from the University of Lagos had a condition called Acromegaly, commonly referred to as gigantism, which he discovered at the age of 19. He had a show called ‘I am Agoro’ airing exclusively on Linda Ikeji TV, where he shared his life story and challenges.

According to reliable sources, Agoro was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to complications related to his condition.

His death was announced by popular Nigerian blogger, Seun Oloketuyi, who shared the news on his Instagram account on Thursday morning. He wrote: “RIP Afeez Agoro Oladimeji. Finally he has peace.”

Many Nigerians have taken to social media to express their condolences and pay tribute to Agoro, who was an inspiration to many people with his courage and resilience.
