A 44-year-old man from Ikire in Osun State, Mr Kola, was devastated when he found out that none of his four children were biologically his. He broke down in tears during a live radio interview where he shared his story.
Mr Kola and his wife Toyin Arike have been married for 17 years and have four children together – Ayomide, 16, Sarah, 12, and two other kids aged 8 and 5 years respectively. Mr Kola said he loved his wife and children dearly and had no reason to doubt their paternity until recently.
He said he decided to conduct a DNA test on his children after he noticed some physical differences between them and himself. He said he was fair-skinned while his children were dark-skinned. He also said he had a blood group of O while his children had A.
He said he took his children to the DDC DNA Diagnositic centre in Alakoko, Osogbo, where they collected their samples and sent them to a laboratory in Lagos for analysis. He said he waited anxiously for the results, hoping that his fears were unfounded.
However, he was shocked when he received the results, which showed that he was not the biological father of any of his children. He said he confronted his wife with the results, but she denied having any extramarital affairs. He said he was confused and heartbroken by the revelation.
He said he decided to share his story on the radio to seek advice from the listeners on what to do. He said he still loved his wife and children, but he felt betrayed and deceived by them. He said he did not know if he could continue with the marriage or accept the children as his own. He said he needed help and guidance from the public.
