Kogi PDP Guber primary: I gave delegates anointing oil to drink to vote for me – Dino Melaye

Senator Dino Melaye on Tuesday said he gave delegates anointing oil to drink to vote for him at the Kogi PDP’s governorship primary which he won.

Melaye said this in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, adding that God bankrolled him.

Seun Okinbaloye had asked Melaye who bankrolled him to win the primary election and he said God did.

“Anyway, I’m not a staff of the EFCC or ICPC. I won’t know if there was money, but if at my level, if I cannot finance a primary, then there is a problem somewhere but definitely, God bankrolled me, I bank with the Almighty God.”

He was also asked how much he gave the delegates to vote for him and he replied: “I gave my delegates anointing oil for mobilisation and it did the magic. I just told you that I believe in Phil’ 4:19, that God shall supply all my needs according to His riches and glory in Christ Jesus, and I’m telling you that He did it.”

In the disputed primary election, Melaye contended that he scored 313, making him the clear winner of the primary election.

“I scored 313 votes. The man who came second scored 124 votes and the man who came third scored 121 votes before Yomi Awoniyi scored 77 votes, but we kept quiet because we will not make noise.

“The truth will always be the truth and we went into the contest and a winner has emerged, my appeal is that we all are brothers. We all are in the business of salvaging Kogi State from the economic cankerworm and financial scavenger called Yahaya Bello.

“Today, our focus is to make sure that we bring back the long-lost reputation of Kogi State. Anywhere you go in this country today if you say you are from Kogi State, the next thing you will hear is ‘ah, that Yahaya Bello state.’ That, the PDP wants to correct, so I’m going to work with my brothers, all the co-aspirants. I have reached out to them, I’ve met five out of seven,” he said.

“So what I’m saying is I scored the majority of lawful votes in that election. And I had close to half of the votes cast in the election while about seven people shared the remaining votes,” he added.
