I laugh at the G-5 Governors, PDP when I look at what is Happening – Arise TV presenter Oseni Rufai

Nigerian journalist and Arise TV presenter, Oseni Rufai, has said he laughed at the G-5 governors and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when he looked at what is happening in the party.

Recall that Governor Nyesom Wike has been leading a team of five aggrieved governors of the PDP, known as the G-5, against the presidential candidate of their party, Atiku Abubakar.

The crisis started immediately after Wike lost the PDP presidential primary election to Atiku.

The Rivers governor has since then requested the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, for being a northerner like Atiku.

Wike and the other four aggrieved PDP governors said it would be unfair to the South that the presidential candidate of the party and its national chairman are both from the North.

Since then, efforts to placate the governors to support Atiku have been abortive, as they threatened to work for another presidential candidate from the South, starting from January 2023.

Newsflash Nigeria learnt that the G-5 governors have travelled again to the United Kingdom for another strategic meeting.

The group led by the Rivers State Governor, Mr Nyesom Wike, has in continuation of its endless foreign trips, left the country for London in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The group which includes Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) had mobilised other party leaders including Chief Bode George, Prof Jerry Gana, etc. to form the ‘Integrity Group’ against Atiku.

A source close to Government House, Port Harcourt told Newsflash Nigeria that all the governors made the trip.

The source noted that the governors would be back in Nigeria on December 30, for Wike to attend his scheduled meeting with the Ogoni Council of Chiefs on December 31.

During the today Morning Show program on Arise News, Oseni Rufai, a Nigerian journalist and Arise TV presenter, said that he laughed at the G-5 governors and PDP when he looked at what is happening.

Oseni Rufai disclosed this gesture of his when he was airing his view on Atiku Abubakar’s warning to the G-5 governors over dumping him.

Oseni Rufai reacted, “When I looked at what is happening, I laugh at both parties, the G-5 governors and the PDP.

“When politicians try to talk about fairness, it’s like Lawrence Anini leading an Anti-robbery squad. We all know what has happened in the PDP. It’s a power struggle.

” One group out-do the other, Mr. Wike has been spending money on the party all this while, then he saw a bigger power in Mr Atiku and muscled him out in the presidential race and now Wike fell disgruntled.”

Oseni Rufai observed that it is a power play between two top gladiators asking Nigeria to shine their eyes.

“He said the fight between Wike and Atiku is not the fight of Nigerians and that they would both settle when their interest aligned.

“Wike thought he owned the structure of PDP before, but Atiku wrestle him out and he feels dissatisfied.”

He then said when they talk about fairness or religious balancing today, tomorrow they will talk about another thing. He said Nigerians should shine their eyes.
