Honest Tricyclist Rewarded with Four Brides for Returning ₦15 Million
A 22-year-old tricyclist, Auwalu Salisu, has been offered four women to choose from as his brides, after he returned a missing ₦15 million to its owner.
Salisu, who lives in Yankaba in Nasarawa local government area of Kano metropolis, found the money in his tricycle, after dropping off a passenger who was from the Republic of Chad.
Salisu told Arewa Radio in Kano that he did not notice that the passenger had left the money behind until he reached home.
He said that he informed his parents about the money, and they instructed him to look for the owner. He said that he heard a message on a radio station in Kano, announcing that someone had lost ₦15 million, which included 10.130 million CFA and ₦2.9 million.
“Just about some minutes after he alighted from the tricycle, I saw the money and immediately proceeded to where the man alighted, but I could not locate him.
“When I reached my house, I informed my mother and father about the money somebody had left in my tricycle.
“My father quickly informed his senior brother, and they all directed me to find a way to return the money to the owner,”
Salisu said that he contacted the radio station and returned the money to the owner, who was very grateful and rewarded him with ₦100,000.
Salisu said that he was happy to do the right thing, and that he did not expect any reward for his honesty.
However, Salisu’s honesty did not go unnoticed by the Kano Matchmaking Marriage Association, also known as Mai Dalilin Aure, which decided to honour him with four women to marry. The Chairman of the association, Mukhtar Inuwa Yakasai, said that among the women, two were his daughters.
Yakasai said that he was impressed by Salisu’s integrity, honesty and trustworthiness, which he said were the qualities of a good Muslim. He said that Salisu had shown the good character of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and that he deserved to be honoured with the gifts. Yakasai said that there were 10 women for Salisu to select four from.
“The boy has shown the good character of our Noble Prophet, Muhammad (SAW). He is indeed trustworthy. That is why we have decided to honour him with these gifts.”
Salisu expressed his appreciation to the association for the gesture, and said that he would consult with his parents before making his choice. He said that he was looking forward to getting married and starting a family.
