Unknown gunmen have abducted the Benue State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Chief Ekpe Ogbu and three others.
Ogbu who is also a former Chairman of Ado Local Government area in Benue South was abducted at the notorious Adankari Junction along the Otukpo-Ado road around 8:45 pm on Sunday.
He was kidnapped alongside Honourable Agbo Ode, one of his in-laws and the driver.
It was gathered that they were kidnapped along David Marks Farm, after Akpa Otobi while on their way from Otukpo to Utonkon in the Ado Local Government Area of the state.
The Hilux van the victim was travelling in has been recovered by the Police in Otukpo.
The commissioner was said to have attended a Church programme, where Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial district, dedicated his newly inaugurated Campaign Council to God at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Otukpo and was going to his village in NDEKMA, Utonkon District of Ado LGA after the Church programme before meeting the unfortunate incident at about 8:45 pm on Sunday, 4th December 2022.
The Special Adviser on Security matters to Governor Samuel Ortom, Colonel Paul Hemba (Rtd), confirmed the abduction of Chief Ogbu, to newsmen.
He said a manhunt has been launched to rescue him and arrest the abductors.
