The former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, has taken to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to share a cryptic message days after the Senate rejected his ministerial nomination.
El-Rufai posted the lyrics of Bob Marley’s “Who The Cap Fit” on Sunday, a song that talks about betrayal, hypocrisy, and injustice.
The lyrics read: “Man to man is so unjust, children, ya don’t know who to trust, your worst enemy could be your best friend, and your best friend, your worst enemy.”
Many of his followers interpreted the message as a subtle jab at the Senate and some of his political allies who may have worked against his confirmation.
Newsflash Nigeria reports that El-Rufai’s name was among the 48 ministerial nominees sent by President Bola Tinubu to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
However, the former FCT Minister and two other nominees failed to secure the Senate’s approval, which cited adverse “security reports” as the reason.
The decision sparked reactions from different quarters, especially within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Although there were rumours that El-Rufai had withdrawn from the race due to the delay, he has not made any official statement on the matter.
