The Ekiti State House of Assembly has urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the mysterious death of Oladimeji Aloba, a hip-hop musician known as MohBad.
MohBad, who was signed to Marlian Music, died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. His family buried him the next day at Gberigbe in Ikorodu, Lagos State, without disclosing the cause of his death.
The assembly expressed its grief and concern over MohBad’s demise on Wednesday while discussing a motion by Babatunde Oke, the lawmaker representing Ikere Constituency I.
Mr Oke said that MohBad was a son of Ekiti State, hailing from Ikere Ekiti in Ikere Local Government. He said that the musician had made a name for himself in the entertainment industry and had a large fan base.
He said that it was important to find out what led to MohBad’s death and ensure that justice was served. He said that there were conflicting reports about his death and that the public deserved to know the truth.
“We need to investigate this matter thoroughly. We are hearing different stories; we need to know what happened,” Mr Oke said.
Supporting the motion, Babatunde Idowu, who is also representing Ikere Constituency 2, described MohBad’s death as untimely and a huge loss
Other lawmakers supported the motion and described MohBad’s death as a huge loss and a sad event. They said that MohBad was a talented and promising artist who had a bright future ahead of him.
The Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye said that the assembly was deeply pained by MohBad’s death and called for a sober reflection. He said that the assembly would do everything possible to ensure that MohBad’s death was not in vain.
”The situation calls for sober reflection; the entertainer’s death is a big blow to us. We need to ensure that justice is done,”.
He prayed to God to grant the family and fans of the late musician the strength to bear the loss.
