Ekiti 2022: Eleka raises alarm over rumoured plan to deputize Segun Oni

Ahead of the 2022 governorship election in Ekiti State, the former deputy governor of the state, Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka, has raised an alarm over rumoured plan to be Segun Oni’s deputy.

Eleka was Ayo Fayose’s deputy during the second term regime, and the 2018 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

A statement made by Kolapo Olusola Eleka Campaign Organization (KOCO) revealed that the former deputy governor is still in the race of the 2022 governorship poll.

KOCO said a man named Abraham Olusegun Adeleye, who is one of Bisi Kolawole’s Media Team, concocted falsehood, where he erroneously said Prof. Kolapo Olusola, agreed to deputize the former governor, Chief Segun Oni who is also an aspirant in the forthcoming PDP primary election.

The Campaign Organization said the allegation is a figment of imagination that should be thrown into a basket of irrelevance.

The SOCO further explained that Prof. Eleka and other prominent PDP leaders in Ekiti State, including the South West PDP Chairman, Amb. Arapaja, Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Sen. Abiodun Olujimi, former Governor of Osun state, Chief Olugunsoye Oyinlola and others, met with HE, Governor Seyi Makinde to discuss some certain issues as touching the state of the party in Ekiti State.

The Campaign Organization stated clearly that Prof. Kolapo Olusola is committed to the welfare of the party and its members, hence the rumour making the round that he has conceded or will concede to another aspirant should be discarded.

KOCO said: “The attention of Kolapo Olusola Eleka Campaign Organization has been drawn to a sinister and concocted falsehood, being peddled by one Abraham Olusegun Adeleye, who is one of Bisi Kolawole’s Media Team, where he erroneously said Prof. Kolapo Olusola has agreed to deputize the former Governor, Chief Segun Oni who is also an Aspirant in the forthcoming PDP primary election.

“It is imperative to state without ambiguity, that such an allegation is a figment of imagination that should be thrown into a basket of irrelevance. It is worthy to note, however, that, Prof. Eleka and other prominent PDP leaders in Ekiti State, including the South West PDP Chairman, Amb. Arapaja, Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Sen. Abiodun Olujimi, former Governor of Osun state, Chief Olugunsoye Oyinlola and others, met with HE, Governor Seyi Makinde to discuss some certain issues as touching the state of the party in Ekiti State.

“It is also important to state clearly that Prof. Kolapo Olusola is committed to the welfare of the party and its members, hence the rumour making the round that he has conceded or will concede to another aspirant should be discarded.

“Finally, we want to enjoin our teeming supporters across the 16 LG’s that Prof. Kolapo Olusola is very much in the race to salvage the party from its moribund state. The mission to rebuild Ekiti state is a collective responsibility.
