Court remands RCCG pastor, two others over the murder of 7-year-old-girls in Ekiti

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered the remand of one Pastor from the Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG), Pastor Olajiga and two others in the correctional centre over the alleged killing of a seven-year-old girl, Damilade Falade.

Newsflash Nigeria had earlier reported that Damilade Falade, 7 years old girl was said to have been sent an errand by her mother on Sunday, December 5, around 8 pm to a neighbouring house at Adehun Area of Ado Ekiti but did not return home that night.

Newsflash Nigeria learnt that the lifeless body of the girl was allegedly found in the pastor’s house after she was declared missing on Sunday night.

According to reports, Demilade was allegedly waylaid and butchered by the daughter of the pastor who was believed to be mentally deranged.

The alleged murderers are Pastor Banji Olajiga (63), his wife, Victoria Olajiga (57) and their daughter, Sekemi Olajiga (31) whom the family claimed is mentally sick.

Newsflash Nigeria reports that the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Bamikole Olasunkanmi told the Court that the defendants committed the offence on December 6 at Ado-Ekiti.

According to him, the defendants on the said date, unlawfully murdered a minor, a 7-year-old girl, Damilade Falade who was sent to buy pap by her mother on the street but later found their dead body in Mr Olajiga house.

The Prosecutor said that the offence is punishable Under Section 343 and 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap. C 16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

He said he had forwarded their case files and sent them to the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP for legal advice.

Counsel to the defendants sought a date of adjournment pending the outcome of the advice from DPP.

The presiding Chief Magistrate, Michael Faola, consequently ordered that the defendants be remanded in Correctional Centre till the outcome of the legal advice from DPP’s office.

Chief Magistrate Faola adjourned the case till January 10th 2022.
