CHAN 2018: Morocco Thrash 10-Man Super Eagles 4-0 To Lift CHAN Trophy

The Atlas Lions of Morocco stamped their supremacy by defeating 10-man Super Eagles 4-0 to emerge champions of the 2018 Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca on Sunday.

Zakaria Hadraf opened scoring for the hosts late in the 45th minute, Walid El Karti doubled the lead in the 61st minute. Zakaria Hadraf extended the lead in the 64th minute, while Ayoub El Kaabi completed the rout in the 73rd minute to end the game 4-0 at full time.

Nigeria later finished the game with 10-men after Moses Eneji was sent off for picking second yellow Card in the 47th minute. Lobi Stars striker, Anthony Okpotu started from the bench in the game as he cames in for Emeka Ogbugh midway in the second half.

The final was a great disappointment for Nigeria after losing the captain and goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, other key key players like tournament sensation Sunday Faleye (due to injury) and Ifeanyi Ifeanyi on suspension.

Plateau United save hands, Dele Ajiboye, who gave good account of himself in the semi final clash against Sudan could not save the situation as the team conceded four goals in quick succession in the game.

Despite the defeat in the final, Nigeria made history by playing in their first ever final, while Morocco also made history not by playing in the first final of the competition but also lifting the trophy on home soil without losing any game in the memorable tournament.
