BREAKING: Kidnapped State APC Chairman in Nasarawa found dead
The kidnapped chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Philip Shekwo, has been found dead.
A source close to the family confirmed this to newsmen on Sunday afternoon.
A leader of the APC in Nasarawa, who asked not to be named, also confirmed the death.
The APC was yet to officially react to the kidnap at the time of this report.
The chairman of Karu local government, Samuel Akala, also confirmed the death on his Facebook page.
Newsflash247 had earlier reported that Shekwo’s kidnap in the late hours of Saturday at his residence in Lafia.
The unidentified gunmen in large number stormed the residence of the APC chairman in Lafia around 11pm and took him away to an unknown destination.
The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Dele Longe, confirmed his kidnap earlier on Sunday.
But on Sunday Raman Nansel, spokesman of the Nasarawa police command, said that Shekwo had been killed.
“We discovered his corpse today and it has been taken to the morgue for post mortem examination,” he said.
“Investigation has begun. We are determined to unravel the cause of the incident.”
Meanwhile, the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, the speaker of the state house of Assembly, Abdullahi-Balarabe Ibrahim, the state commissioner of police, Bolak Longe, government official, party faithfuls and sympathizers are now in the house of the lain party chairman.
