BREAKING: Gunmen kill poultry farmer in Ekiti, two others escape
There was palpable apprehension in Ikere Ekiti, in the Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti, on Monday as unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen shot and killed a man whose identity as Ademola Afolayan in a poultry farm.
According to the report gathered by Newsflash Nigeria, the incident occurred on Monday evening around 5:00 pm.
Sources said the gunmen, numbering about 5, invaded the poultry farm located at Eselemo Farm, Igbooka area via Akure road, shooting sporadically and in the process, killed Ademola Afolayan.
The two persons have narrowly escaped the incident.
A source, who witnessed the incident, said, “We were in the poultry farm around 5:00 pm after raining fall, I saw the gunmen through the window numbering about 5. They used the mask to cover their face.
“I told my elder brother but he could walk faster because he was an old man. I escaped through the window.
“But Demola was not in the hut (Aba), he went to the poultry farm to feed his pigs.
“Immediately the gunmen saw Demola with the cutlass while he was coming from the place where he went to feed the pigs, they shot him.
“And took the old man in the hut away.
“The gunmen discovered that the old man has no phone number and he cannot walk faster, then he was released.
The body of Ademola Afolayan has been deposited in the morgue at the State Specialist Hospital Ikere Ekiti.

Three weeks ago, Newsflash Nigeria had reported that kidnappers had abducted some travellers in commercial buses along Akure/Ikere-Ado Ekiti road in Ekiti State.
It was gathered that the gunmen were reported to have swooped on the travellers’ vehicles while navigating through the bad portions of the road.
The source gathered that the passengers were in three vehicles and one of the drivers were narrowly escaped the incident.
The incident occurred in between the boundary of Iju in Ondo State and Ikere Ekiti in Ekiti State.
An eyewitness said that the vehicles were left open in the middle of the road, which attracted members of the public to the abandoned vehicle and raised the alarm.
