APC Organising Secretary Kidnapped by Bandits in Kaduna
Hon. Kawu Ibrahim Yakasai, the Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, has fallen victim to the menace of banditry in the state.
He was abducted from his home in Yakasai village on Friday night by armed men who stormed his residence.
Yakasai, who also served as the former Chairman of Soba Local Government, was taken away by the bandits around 10:00 pm, according to sources.
The bandits reportedly singled out his house and overpowered his security guards before whisking him away.
The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has condemned the incident and ordered security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue Yakasai and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mohammed Lawal Shehu, confirmed this in a statement.
He also assured the APC and the family of Yakasai of the government’s support and solidarity.
“The governor has directed security agencies to go after the kidnappers and ensure the safe return of Hon. Yakasai,” Shehu said. “He also called on the people of the state to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the security agencies.”
Yakasai’s abduction is the latest in a series of kidnappings in Kaduna State. In recent months, the state has been plagued by insecurity, with bandits carrying out attacks on communities and kidnapping people for ransom.
The abduction of Yakasai is a reminder of the security challenges facing Kaduna State. The governor’s directive to security agencies is a welcome step, but it is important to see how effective the agencies will be in ensuring Yakasai’s safe return.
The people of Kaduna State are also urged to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the security agencies. Only by working together can we defeat the bandits and ensure the safety of our communities.
