The North Central APC Forum, a group of All Progressives Congress (APC) members from the North Central zone, has issued a stern warning to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to refrain from meddling in the affairs of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The group said that Wike, who is an appointee of the APC-led Federal Government, should not be seen or heard trying to resolve the crisis rocking the PDP.
The group’s chairman, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, made this known on Tuesday in Jos, Plateau State. He said that Wike’s involvement in the PDP matters would be detrimental to the interest of the APC and its leader, President Bola Tinubu.
He said that Wike should show his loyalty and friendship to the APC, which gave him the opportunity to serve as a minister, rather than to the PDP, which is still hostile to the APC administration.
Zazzaga said that the group was alarmed by a recent video that went viral on social media, showing Wike in a cozy meeting with a former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who is a prominent member of the PDP.
He said that such a meeting was unacceptable and suspicious, especially at a time when the PDP was embroiled in a leadership tussle.
He said: “We are warning Wike against getting himself involved in the PDP crisis, talk more of making any moves to resolve it since the party is still seeing him as their member.
“But we in the APC are not comfortable with Wike’s romance with the PDP because we know it won’t always be in the interest of the APC which he is holding its appointive position.
“So, Wike’s loyalty should be seen and felt by the APC, as well as his friendship, rather than with the opposition PDP.
“We will continue expressing our concern over Wike’s romance with the PDP because many of their leaders are still not showing their support to the APC administration and the leadership of President Bola Tinubu after his victory at the February Presidential polls.”
