In what appears to be a mere speculation before, fresh revelation has shown that Ondo State government has approved the increment of the school fees for fresh students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
It was gathered that aside from the acceptance fee of N30, 000 and N10,000 for verification of result(s) and admission letter, the fresh students comprising ND1 and HND1 are currently paying between N98,500; 93,500 and 108, 500 respectively.
This is contrary to the amount which fresh students paid in 2016/2017 academic session during the dispensation of former Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.
Today, one of the HND1 students who doesn’t want his name published by the Faculty of Applied Sciences,
who has printed his payment invoice, a copy of which was obtained by newsmen shows that he’s to pay N108, 500.
Details of the increased school fees as obtained by newsmen show that fresh students under the Faculty of applied science will pay between N98,500 for ND1 while HND 1 students are expected to pay 108,500.
In the Faculty of Business Studies, ND1 students will pay N93,500 while HND1 students are to pay N101, 000 each.
For the Faculty of engineering, fresh ND1 students are to pay N98,500 while HND1 students will pay 108,500 each as tuition.
While the Faculty of Social Sciences and communication studies Fresh students are to pay N98,500 for ND1 while the HND1 new intake is to pay N108,500.
Speaking with newsmen, the Students Union President of the school, Comrade Ayejuyo Temitayo confirmed the increment.
According to Ayejuyo, the Union leaders have continued to engage with the management of the institution for possible reduction.
He added that the Students Union of the institution will not do anything that will truncate the current peace that has just returned to the school.
