NNPCL Confirms Port Harcourt Refinery Produces 1.4 Million Liters of PMS Daily
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced that the revamped 60,000-barrel-per-day Port Harcourt Refinery is producing at least 1.4 million liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily.
In response to claims that the refinery is non-operational, NNPCL clarified in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, that the facility is operating at 70% capacity, with plans to increase output to 90% in the near future.
“We are aware of unfounded claims by certain individuals suggesting that the refinery is not producing products. For clarity, the Old Port Harcourt Refinery is currently operating at 70% of its installed capacity, with plans to ramp up to 90%,” the statement emphasized.
According to Soneye, the refinery produces a range of petroleum products daily, including:
– 1.4 million liters of PMS (Premium Motor Spirit)
– 900,000 liters of kerosene
– 1.5 million liters of diesel (Automotive Gas Oil)
– 2.1 million liters of Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO)
NNPCL reiterated its commitment to ensuring the refinery operates efficiently to meet the nation’s energy demands.
