Tinubu Targets One Million Service Export Jobs Through NATEP

The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has set a target of creating one million jobs for Nigerians through the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP). This was disclosed by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, on Thursday in Abuja at the closing ceremony of NATEP 2023.

NATEP is a programme that aims to harness the skills and talents of Nigerians in various sectors and facilitate their export to other countries where there is a demand for such services.

The programme covers areas such as information and communication technology, health, education, entertainment, sports, agriculture, and tourism.

The minister said that the government has started implementing some initiatives to achieve the target in four years.

One of the initiatives is the National Artisan Registration and Development Programme (NARDEP), which is designed to train, certify, and place Nigerian artisans on internship programmes with industry partners in line with global best practices.

She said that NARDEP would drive the actualisation of NATEP, which is expected to deliver one million service export jobs over the next five years. She added that NATEP would also increase foreign exchange earnings and revenue for Nigeria, create and stimulate the growth of ancillary industries and support services, and improve skills among others.

She urged Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunities offered by NATEP and NARDEP to develop their potentials and contribute to the economic development of the country.
