2019: National Assembly Make A U-Turn, Cut Short Its Recess
The National Assembly has decided to cut short its recess.
It will reconvene on Tuesday, August 14.
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yussuff Lasun spoke to newsmen on Thursday evening.
According to him, “the agenda will primarily be the presidential budget request to fund INEC’s operations for the 2019 election.”
The Federal lawmakers had been on recess since July 24, and were expected to resume in September.
The presidency had pleaded with National Assembly to reconvene to in order to treat some pressing national issues.
The supplementary budget for 2019 general election, and the confirmation of some of President Muhammadu Buhari’s nominees — the Chairman of the Board of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, Dr. Muiz Banire are some of the pressing matters.
