Your Recommendation Not Binding On Me – Yahaya Bello Tells Northern APC Governors
Kogi State governor and presidential aspirant of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Yahaya Bello on Sunday night said the recommendation by 10 Northern governors calling for a power rotation to the South is not binding on him.
He, therefore, said he will not withdraw from the presidential race.
Speaking on Channels Television on Sunday night, the governor said he was not consulted before the decision by the governors was made.
Newsflash Nigeria had reported that ten northern governors had backed a southern aspirant for the ruling APC.
The governors appeal to all aspirants from the northern states to withdraw in the national interest and allow only the aspirants from the south to proceed to the primaries.
The governors who signed the statement include Bello Masari, Katsina; Nasir El-Rufai, Kaduna; Atiku Bagudu, Kebbi; Simon Lalong, Plateau; Abdullahi Ganduje, Kano; Bello Matawalle, Zamfara; Inuwa Yahaya, Gombe; Babagana Zulum, Borno; Sani Bello, Niger; and Abdullahi Sule, Nasarawa.
Those aspirants contestants from the north include Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, Governor Yahaya Bello, Jigawa Governor Badaru and former governor of Zamfara State, Sani Yerima.
