You Will Remain Poor Forever: OPM Pastor Curses Security Guards for Lying Against Him, Nigerians React
The founder and general overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has come under fire from some Nigerians for cursing two ex-security guards who alleged that he abandoned them in Cyprus after promising them scholarship.
The ex-security guards, who were formerly working at Chicken Republic and became popular for their dancing skills, were among the beneficiaries of Apostle Chibuzor’s charity program, which he funded from the tithes and offerings of his church members1. He had sent them to Cyprus to pursue their education and better their lives.
However, the duo, known as Happie Boys, recently took to social media to cry out that they had to drop out of school after six months because Apostle Chibuzor stopped sending them money for their fees and upkeep. They also shared screenshots of their chats with him, where they pleaded with him for financial assistance several times and he either snubbed them or told them he had no money.
In response to their claims, Apostle Chibuzor released an audio clip that has gone viral online, where he expressed his anger and disappointment over the ingratitude and falsehood of the ex-security guards. He said that he did not forsake them, but they failed to meet up with the academic standards of the school and squandered the opportunity he gave them.
He also said that he did not owe them anything, as he sponsored them from his own pocket and from the generous donations of his church members, who could have used the money for other things. He said that he did not ask for anything in return from them, except to appreciate his kindness and excel in their studies.
He then cursed them, saying that they will never prosper in life, that they will suffer poverty and misery, and that they will sell the clothes he bought for them to feed themselves. He said that he did this out of the pain in his heart, as he felt betrayed by their evil actions.
His curse goes thus:
“I place this curse from the pain in my heart that doing good becomes evil. That whosoever, no matter who that person is, that I used…He didn’t pay one kobo, he didn’t spend one naira, it is from offering and tithe that people drop in the altar. What other pastors use in buying private jets, I say let me use it to help you.
“Now, I do you good, you use evil to pay me, you will remain poor forever. You can never achieve anything in life. As long as, whether anywhere you are, you will suffer poverty. You can never achieve. You can’t even buy one plot of land.
“If there’s other clothes you’ve bought through the money I used in sending you to Cyprus, you will sell those clothes to feed. You will become so wretched.”
Meanwhile, some Nigerians have reacted to the pastor’s curse on the ex-security guards, saying that it was unbecoming of a man of God to curse those who offended him. They compared him with late Pastor T.B Joshua, who was known for his humility and forgiveness. They advised him to bless them instead of cursing them and see how God would glorify himself.
See some of their reactions below:
@Jonathan Atúndé: I think some pastors need to be reminded of their job descriptions. You are a pastor because of sinners. You are called to bring sinners back to God. The Bible says it is of God to revenge. As Christians, we are to bless those who curse us. It’s sad seeing men of God throwing away what they preach at a slight provocation. I hope the Pastor in question will rethink and reverse the curse and allow God to take control. Human beings are surely ungrateful but two wrongs never make a right! How I wish the pastor blessed the guy instead of cursing and seeing the kind of glory that would have been brought to Christ.
@Niyi Akinyemi: That’s why I love my spiritual father prophet TB Joshua may his soul rest in the bosom of the Lord Jesus Christ superstar Amen.
@Dickson Okulo: But if na so Jesus Christ dey do us wey dey sin against am everyday how we go take survive? Abeg make una leave this man alone make him go repent before e too late for am ooo.
@Yekini Rasheed: Jesus has never taught us to curse people He has favoured one time or the other, Jesus heal ten of their sicknesses only one came back to Jesus to show appreciation.
@Biezugbe Ruth Idowu: If the pastor sent them to Cyprus and unable to send money to them again,he has done More than enough for them. Just few people has that opportunity, he only helped them. They shouldn’t have seen it as a must, pastor has his own problem to cater for. He has done More than enough for them when they were sacked. They shouldn’t have posted any negative thing about the pastor. They are ingrate. They have their parents are family to run to. Though the pastor shouldn’t have cursed them . He should have ignored whatever they must have posted about him. I come in peace.
@Reuben Kakai: If you help somebody and perhaps it doesn’t go the way you wanted that doesn’t warrant you to proclaim a curse. The bible says thank God in all matters for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Being a “servant” of God you should behave better.
@Evangelist Segun: I usually respect you for your kind gestures towards the poor and needy but this display give me concern if you are really called by God Almighty. Shame on you!
