You can’t win Ekiti polls by influencing electorates with money – PDP tells APC
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ebonyi State chapter has said that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, led federal government can’t win Ekiti governorship election scheduled to hold Saturday by influencing electorates with money.
The party made this known to journalists in Abakaliki through the State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Okulegu Bethran, who said that with what was happening in Ekiti, it seemed that the APC administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari was not ready for the 2019 general election.
He noted that the deployment of heavy security and alleged movement of cash to Ekiti by the federal government to influence the election, showed that APC was aware of the imminent defeat awaiting the party’s candidate.
Okulegu added that the happenings in Ekiti was an indication that the ruling APC knew that they had been rejected by the people and were afraid of conducting free, fair and credible elections.
“APC led federal government are deliberately impoverishing Nigerians through bad leadership and are now hiding under it to influence Ekiti governorship election through votes buying among other electoral malpractices,” he stated.
Okulegu who urged the people of Ekiti not to fall for the new antics of sharing money by the APC as it would amount to mortgaging their future for a pot of porridge, admonished them to vote for the PDP’s candidate for a secured future.
While calling on the people of Ekiti to protect their votes, he expressed confidence that PDP would win the election despite the frantic efforts of the APC to rig the election.
“I am very sure that PDP will take Ekiti state just like am sure in Osun. The people are ready, though the federal government may be planning to rig the elections. Nigeria has come of age where you don’t rig election,” he said.
He also condemned the action of police against the governor of Ekiti, Governor Ayodele Fayose, saying, “a situation where the federal government will order policemen to hit the governor, is condemnable. We condemn such attitude”.
“If the police that are supposed to protect the citizens are the one killing the citizens, it is unfortunate. Federal government and its agencies should allow Ekiti people to choose who will be their governor”, he said.
