Woman Kills Husband with Pestle in Ondo after Heated Argument
A 65-year-old man, Felix Solomon, has been killed by his wife, Tayelolu Solomon, with a pestle in Ondo State. The incident happened at their residence in GRA, Ondo town, over the weekend.
The couple had been having a long-standing marital crisis and the woman had repeatedly threatened to kill her husband.
Their son, Ibukun Solomon, who witnessed the gruesome murder, said his mother attacked his father in his sleep after a minor quarrel.
“My mother killed my father with a pestle in front of me and fled. She used the pestle to smash his head when he was asleep on a chair,” he said.
“He became unconscious and fell to the floor. My mother hit his head with the pestle three more times and he died.
“When my mother realized that my father was dead, she hid the pestle behind our house and ran away.
“I called for help from our neighbours, who took my father to the hospital. But it was too late. His body has been taken to the mortuary. My mother had three children for my father and I’m the youngest.”
According to sources, the deceased had intended to report his wife to her family before she killed him. The police were also alerted by the residents who found the deceased on the ground.
A relative of the deceased said they were trying to resolve the frequent disputes between the couple before the tragedy occurred.
The relative said that the woman had been known to threaten her husband’s life whenever they fought. But they never expected her to carry out her threats.
“She must be brought to justice for killing our brother for no reason,” the relative said.
