Wike Blames Fubara for Rivers Crisis, Says He Disrespected Tinubu and Shettima

The political crisis in Rivers State has taken a new twist as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, of defying the orders of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President, Kashim Shettima.

Wike, who is a former governor of Rivers State, said that Fubara ignored the directive from the President and the Vice President to settle the dispute with the opposition parties and the state assembly.

He made this claim in a media chat on Friday, where he also expressed his disappointment with Fubara’s performance as governor.

Wike said that Fubara dismantled the political structure that supported him to become governor. He said that he advised Fubara to execute a ring-road project that would have guaranteed his re-election, but Fubara failed to do so. He said that he even took Fubara to Germany to meet with Julius Berger, the construction company, and they agreed to complete the road in three years, which would coincide with the election year.

Wike also said that he would never disrespect the President or the Vice President for any reason. He said that Fubara’s disobedience to the highest authorities in the country was the cause of the thuggery, militancy, and ethnicity that have plagued Rivers State. He said that he would not allow anyone to destroy the political structure that he built in the state.

“We never knew that it will take you three months to scatter the political structure that picked you up. What is painful is seeing these propaganda and lies that I was angry. Did he (Fubara) buy form? Be grateful in your life in all circumstances.

“I will not allow anybody to crumble our political structure. I told him if you do this ring-road your second tenure would be assured, I took him to Germany to meet Julius Berger and they promised to do the road in three years which is the year leading to election. I told him if you do this road nobody will challenge you in Rivers State.

“Anything that will make me disrespect Mr President count me out, he disobeyed the President, disobeyed the Vice President. When the law speaks, thuggery, militancy, and ethnicity will run away.”
