The Ekiti State governor and the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Kayode Fayemi, on Wednesday, March 25, has appealed to his colleagues to test for coronavirus.
He urged them to test while recalling that many governors attended the last Wednesday’s meeting of the NGF.
Fayemi himself is on self-isolation and awaiting his COVID-19 test result.
A statement Wednesday night by Abdulrazaq Bello-Barkindo, Head, Media and Public Affairs of the NGF, quoted the Fayemi as advising the governors to self-isolate.
He said Nigeria and citizens ensure must that the spread of the disease remains at its lowest.
“In the same vein, he calls upon all Nigerians who attended functions, at which at least one person was positively identified with COVID – 19, to immediately self-isolate and come forward to the NCDC for identification and to do tests.
“Hiding from the public and self-treatment, places the entire public at risk. We should all do our part to stop the spread of this highly infectious disease. COVID -19 virus infection is treatable. The earlier it is identified the better.”
The Chairman wished all persons with COVID-19 in Nigeria and other countries full recovery.
He prayed God to repose the soul of all those who lost their lives to the disease all over the world.
Coronavirus cases now 51 in Nigeria. 5 new cases have been reported in Lagos, Abuja and Rivers.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) has flown supplies donated by business magnate, Jack Ma, from Lagos to Abuja.
