Why Buhari created Economic Advisory Council – Osinbajo reveals
The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday has explained that the newly-created Economic Advisory Council (EAC) was put together by President Muhammadu Buhari to assist himself.
Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya has disclosed this to State House reporters after the NEC meeting chaired by Osinbajo.
Yahaya said: “Governors requested clarification from the council chairman (the vice president), on the relationship between the NEC and the newly formed Economic Advisory Council.
And the Vice President explained that the council is advisory for the benefit of Mr President; while the NEC is established by the constitution, they are to complement one another.
“He (Osinbajo) added that NEC could be briefed regularly on the activities of the Economic Advisory Council with the permission of Mr. President.”
Newsflash247 earlier reported that the presidency, through its special assistant on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, dismissed viral claims that the office of the vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, had been sidelined and rendered redundant.
This came after mixed reactions trailed President Muhammadu Buhari’s constitution of the Economic Advisory Council to replace the Economic Management Team (EMT) headed by Osinbajo.
