Welfarism of Ekiti teachers my first priority – Oke
One of the chairmanship candidates for the Ekiti State Chapter of Nigeria Union of Teachers, Com. Oke Emmanuel Oluwagbemi has promised to make welfarism of teachers his first priority.
This was disclosed at the weekend in Ado-Ekiti after a group of 95 per cent of teachers in the state conducted a primary election for him and one other person.
At the primary, Oke got 26 votes while Com. Ipinlaye Oludele Isaac got no vote.
Thanking the representatives of teachers in the sixteen local government area of Ekiti State, after winning the primary election, Oke said it would be his utmost joy if the entire teachers in the state could make him their preferred candidate, noting that he would not disappoint them if elected.
Com. Oke vowed to have a good relationship with the government and use the relationship to bring home all that would make the teachers happy.
He further thanked the Executive Governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi over prompt payment of teachers’ salaries.
He also appreciated the governor on the employment of Teachers both at secondary and primary Schools to Foster effective and efficient learning environment, saying some schools in the state have been built and renovated by the government.
Speaking on the unity and oneness of teachers that Fayemi’s administration is promoting, Oke condemned those minorities of less than 5% of Teachers to stop fabricating lies that are baseless.
He stressed that Ekiti teachers always throwing their support behind the people who are popular among them.
“If I could be elected NUT chairman during the general election, slated to hold February, 2021, I would represent my colleagues in the profession well, your welfarism would my top priority, support me and I would not disappoint you”, he said.
