VIDEO: Thugs invade PVC registration centre in Lagos; cart away machines
Thugs on Friday reportedly disrupted the ongoing voter registration exercise in the Surulere area of Lagos State.
Newsflash Nigeria gathered that the incident occurred at St. Bridget Catholic Church ljesha, Surulere Lagos.
According to the report, thugs stormed the area in large numbers and carted away registration machines and disrupted officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from registering people for the permanent voter card.
Some residents of the area sustained the injury in the fracas.
In a video that surfaced on social media, one of the residents was heard saying: “Look at what is happening here. Surulere people did not go to the market today because they wanted to get the PVC and vote.
“But thugs did not allow them to get the PVC because they believe want to vote for Peter Obi.”

The incident happened less than 72 hours before the CVR’s deadline by INEC.
Following the incident, the Parish Priest shut the church while people scampered for safety.
An eyewitness who identified herself as Dr Ambassador Princess Okojie Igbemudia said the thugs stormed the church and disrupted the exercise because those registering will vote for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
It was learnt that the police had been deployed to the area to ensure peace and order.
The incident is happening amid mounting concerns about the deployment of crude and illegal strategies by the ruling All Progressives Congress to intimidate and suppress voters in areas dominated by a particular ethnic group that is unlikely to vote for the ruling party.
