Some residents of Oshodi in Lagos State Wednesday booed the new Inspector of General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba along the Oshodi-Anthony Expressway.
It was gathered that Baba was booed on Wednesday while en route to an event.
It was unclear what the IGP’s mission to Lagos was; however, a source said that his visit would not be unconnected to the tension in some parts of the region over the planned June 12 protest.
When contacted, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi was unable to speak with our correspondent. He, however, pledged to return the call.
It was gathered that the arrival of the IGP, Lagos State Police officials blocked the Oshodi-Lagos Airport Road and Maryland-Ojota axis of the highway.
The blockage of the highway did not go down well with Lagosians, who were stuck in traffic for hours.

As the IGP’s convoy passed the blocked road, the already-pent-up crowd booed and called him names in Yoruba. While some shouted “thief”, others screamed “you will never do well”.
The IGP’s visit comes three days to the June 12 nationwide protests that have been planned to take place at Freedom Park, Ojota.
The protests are against bad governance under the Buhari regime, with the recent ban on Twitter adding to mounting displeasure of Nigerians against the government.
