Following the Nigeria government banned public gathering as part of efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus pandemic, the couple and guests have reported taking to their heels as the COVID-19 task force disrupt their wedding in Cross River State.
Members of the Cross River state COVID-19 taskforce disrupted a wedding that held at the Christ Apostolic Church in Calabar, the state capital on Saturday, May 16.
The state government banned public gathering as part of efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19.
A video shared online shows the intending couple and their guests taking to their heels as men of the task force stormed the church service.
Though, Cross River state is only of the two states yet to confirm any case of the Coronavirus in Nigeria and the two states; Cross River and Kogi have been at loggerheads with the NCDC and federal authorities for discouraging COVID-19 testing and not adhering to the national response strategy.
Authorities in Kogi and Cross Rivers believe there is a plot to compulsorily report COVID-19 cases in the states, but medical experts and federal officials said the low number of test samples turned in from the states is making it difficult to ascertain if they are actually Coronavirus-free.
