Two kidnap suspects burnt alive, three others arrested in Lagos
Many onlookers were noticed at the scene of the incident, which, shocked many residents.
It was gathered that a passers-by had heard female’s voice in the early hours of Tuesday crying for help.
After noticing that the cry was coming from the underground where the canal is linked at Obadeyi bus stop, Ijaiye, she had to draw the attention of other passers-by to the woman’s cry for help.
The police were said to have been alerted and came to the scene and rescued the victims and apprehended the culprits found.
“The police were able to uncover the hiding place where the suspects carried out their evil acts with the aid of soldiers who invaded the secluded territory. By 10.00am, the crowd had already tripled. Onlookers from Agege, Sango, Ifo had arrived Obadeyi area in Ojokoro to witness the incidence.
“It took several hours to dig into the den where the suspects had hidden their victims; about two persons were rescued and taken to the hospital, as they appeared unconscious. Since security agents were already on the ground, angry mob were prevented from carrying out a mob attack on the suspect, who refused to confess to the crime,” an eye witness who craved anonymity said.
It was gathered that the crowd later succeeded and set ablaze one of the suspects, but surprisingly to them, as fire was burning all over him, he appeared unhurt.
It was learnt that the abandoned house also served as a hideout for the kidnappers before a LAWMA highway sweeper raised the alarm.
The sweeper reported that she heard the voice of a woman calling for help from the building situated close to a canal.
“The suspect boasted that there was nothing they could do to harm him. Even some moved to dismember him with machetes and all sorts of weapons, but he wasn’t still perturbed”, the witness said.
It was gathered that none of the suspects was killed, as soldier on routine patrol of the area rescued them from the hands of the angry mobs.
