Truck Kills Ogun Monarch as He Steps Out of Tricycle
A tragic accident claimed the life of Oba Abraham Bankole, the Olu of Onibuku, on Tuesday. The traditional ruler in Ogun State was crushed by a truck as he alighted from a tricycle along the Ota-Idiroko expressway, near Winners Chapel.
Newsflash Nigeria reports that the truck with registration number EPE 252 XF ran over the monarch, who died on the spot. The tricycle driver and other passengers escaped unhurt.
The Spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident to journalists, saying that she was yet to receive a full report from the FRSC in Ota Unit.
The death of Oba Bankole has shocked and saddened many people in Ogun State, especially in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, where he reigned as the Olu of Onibuku.
A first-class Oba in Ogun West Senatorial district, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed his grief and bewilderment over why the late monarch chose to travel in a tricycle instead of a personal car. He wondered if the monarch had a car of his own or not.
It was gathered that the remains of Oba Bankole had been deposited at the General Hospital, Ota.
