Tribunal: Tinubu’s Gender Mismatch in US Admission Records Exposed by Witness
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, have challenged the academic and work records of President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC) in Abuja.
The PDP presented a witness, Mike Enahoro-Ebah, who is a human rights activist and public interest litigator, to testify against Tinubu’s qualifications to contest the presidential election that held on February 25.
Enahoro-Ebah told the court that he obtained certified copies of Tinubu’s Form EC9, which contained his affidavit of personal particulars, from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He also said that he applied and received various documents from schools in the United States of America (USA) that Tinubu claimed to have attended.
He tendered before the court Tinubu’s B.Sc certificate from the Chicago State University (CSU), NYSC discharge certificate, and Mobil Nigeria Oil Plc certificate of service.
He noted that the documents bore different names such as ‘Bola Adekunle Tinubu’, ‘Tinubu Bola Adekunle’ and ‘Tinubu Bola A’.
He also tendered a transcript from South West College in USA, which he said showed that Tinubu identified himself as female while seeking admission to CSU in 1977.
He further tendered a notarised judgement of a US court on the forfeiture of $460,000 belonging to Tinubu and a copy of his Guinean passport.
The five-member panel of justices presided by Justice Haruna Tsammani admitted the documents as exhibits after taking objections from counsel to INEC, Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN); Tinubu, Emmanuel Ukala (SAN) and the APC, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).
Tinubu is the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the winner of the February 25 presidential election.
He has been accused by the PDP and Atiku of lying about his academic qualifications and using different names in his official documents.
Tinubu has denied the allegations and insisted that he graduated from CSU with honours in 1979.
The CSU has also confirmed that Tinubu attended the university from August 1977 to June 1979 and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with honours.
The PEPC is expected to deliver its judgement on the petition filed by the PDP and Atiku before October.
