Transformer Explosion Kills Four, Injures Others in Jos Community
A tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday in Gada Biu community, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, when an electric transformer exploded and caused a fire outbreak that claimed the lives of four people and injured several others.
According to eyewitnesses, the transformer exploded around 3 a.m. and ignited the nearby buildings and shops, trapping some of the residents inside. The fire also destroyed properties and goods worth millions of naira.
A resident of the community, John Silas, who spoke to The PUNCH, said that the people of Kabong village in Gada Biu community were thrown into mourning by the incident. He said that he was not sure of the fate of those who were trapped in the fire.
The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the incident and said that they had deployed their officers and men to the scene to investigate the cause of the explosion.
The spokesman for the command, Alabo Alfred, said that some of the victims had been taken to the hospital for treatment. He expressed sympathy with the affected families and assured them of justice.
