Tragic Loss: Renowned Pastor Dies Suddenly After Officiating Funeral Service

The Christian community in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom state, is mourning the sudden death of Pastor Runcie Mike, the lead pastor of The Evening Church.

Pastor Mike passed away on Saturday, July 1, after a brief illness, just two days after he officiated the funeral service of a young lady who was the daughter of one of his church members.

The cause of Pastor Runcie Mike’s death has not been released. However, some sources have speculated that he may have died of a heart attack.

Pastor Mike was a popular and respected preacher who founded The Evening Church in 2016. The church, which is located at the Shopping Mall, Tropicana Centre, Uyo, has grown to become one of the most vibrant and influential churches in the city.

Pastor Mike was known for his dynamic and inspiring messages, his passion for evangelism and social justice, and his love for God and people.

The news of his death came as a shock to many of his church members and admirers, who initially thought it was a hoax.

However, the church leadership later confirmed the sad news in an official statement. The statement read: “In this time of grief, we enjoin the body of Christ to hold us up in prayers and most especially, His immediate family.”

Pastor Mike is survived by his wife and two children. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, church members, and the entire Christian community.

Meanwhile, another tragedy struck the Christian community in Ogun State, where a pastor identified as Oluwaseun Ajose was killed and several worshippers were abducted by armed men during an attack on a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) branch. The incident occurred last weekend at the church’s location in Abule-Ori, part of the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

According to Soji Ganzallo, the commander of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps, a security outfit, his men responded swiftly to a distress call and engaged the assailants in a gun battle. He said that one of the attackers was killed and seven kidnapped church members were rescued during the operation.

He added that the So-Safe Corps’ special operation team was working with other security agencies to apprehend the remaining culprits and ensure the safety of the residents. He also urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

The deaths of Pastor Runcie Mike and the RCCG pastor, Oluwaseun Ajose are a tragedy, and our thoughts are with their families and loved ones. We pray that the perpetrators of these crimes will be brought to justice.
