Tragedy as assailants burnt Herbalist, wife alive in Ekiti
There was pandemonium in Ikere Ekiti in the Ikere local government area of Ekiti as a herbalist identified as Jimoh Aliu was overnight burnt alive in his house alongside one of his wives by some unknown assailants.
Newsflash Nigeria learnt that the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at the Ogbon Igbeyin area of the second largest city of the state.
A letter was dropped at the scene of the incident; an unknown person had in the letter threatened the deceased over an unclear dispute.
Newsflash Nigeria correspondent visited the scene and observed that only Mr Aliu and his wife were burnt on his bed in a room, and the roof ceiling of the room was not touched, even though the whole building is intact.
Speaking with our correspondent, some family members and other wives of the deceased, said they received a distressed call around 1 am in the early hours of Wednesday that the house of late Aliu was set ablaze.
Mr Aliu is not an indigene of the town but hails from Ilogbo Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government of the state.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer in Ikere described the incident as a suspected case of arson and that the police had commenced an investigation.
