Tinubu’s Classmate Speaks Out on Chicago University Degree

President Bola Tinubu’s academic background has been a subject of controversy for many years, as some Nigerians have doubted his degree from the Chicago State University.

The President has faced several legal challenges from opposition parties who tried to disqualify him from contesting the 2023 presidential election based on his educational qualification.

However, a new witness has emerged to corroborate Tinubu’s claim that he graduated from the Chicago State University in 1979.

Durojaiye Ogunsanya, a public affairs analyst, appeared on TVC News on Tuesday to testify that he was a classmate of Tinubu at the university. He said they were both in the same department of Accounting, Business and Administration, and they graduated in the same year.

Ogunsanya said Tinubu was a brilliant and ambitious student who became the president of an accounting club at the university. He said he was not surprised that Tinubu rose to become the President of Nigeria after serving as the governor of Lagos State for eight years.

Ogunsanya also described Tinubu as a social person who had a good relationship with his professors and classmates. He said he was amused by Tinubu’s Nigerian accent when he ran for the presidency of the accounting club, but he was impressed by his victory.

Ogunsanya said he decided to speak up about his affiliation with Tinubu at the Chicago State University because he felt people were being mischievous by questioning his degree. He said it was impossible for someone who worked for Mobil for several years and became a governor to have no university education.

Ogunsanya’s testimony comes at a time when the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has filed a suit seeking access to Tinubu’s credentials at the Chicago State University. Tinubu has not responded to Atiku’s suit, but his supporters have hailed Ogunsanya’s interview as a proof of his academic integrity.
