Tinubu’s Choice: Ganduje to Lead APC After Adamu’s Resignation

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is in search of a new national chairman after the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who stepped down from the position on Sunday.

Adamu, who was elected as the party’s leader in June 2021, cited health reasons and personal issues as the reasons for his decision.

According to some sources, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is widely regarded as the leader of the APC and a potential presidential candidate in 2027, has already picked his preferred successor for Adamu. The name that has been mentioned is that of former Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Ganduje, who served as the governor of Kano from 2015 to 2023, is a loyal ally of Tinubu and a prominent member of the APC. He is also known for his achievements in infrastructure development, education, health, and security in his state. He was reelected for a second term in 2019, despite facing allegations of corruption and bribery.

However, Ganduje’s name has not been officially confirmed by Tinubu or the APC leadership. There are also other contenders for the position of national chairman.

Ganduje angle could be an outcome of today’s meeting that will precede the one with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The APC will hold its national convention later this year to elect its new executives and ratify its constitution.
