Tinubu pledges one million digital jobs for Nigerian youth
In his first speech as Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu vowed to create one million new jobs in the digital sector for the country’s young population.
He said this was part of his campaign promise and his administration’s priority.
Speaking at the Eagle Square in Abuja on Monday, Mr Tinubu said he would collaborate with the lawmakers to pass a Jobs and Prosperity bill that would enable his government to invest in infrastructure, industry and social services.
He said the bill would help his administration to “create meaningful opportunities for our youth” and “provide improved social services for the poor, elderly and vulnerable”.
The former Lagos governor also took a swipe at his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, who had promised to create 24 million jobs in six years but failed to deliver.
He said his government would not repeat the mistakes of the past and would work hard to improve the living standards of Nigerians.
