Tinubu Orders Adamu, Omisore to Quit as APC Leaders Amid Crisis
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, and the National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, have resigned their positions in the ruling party on Sunday.
Sources close to the party and the Presidency told Prime Business Africa (PBA) that the duo stepped down on the directives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was unhappy with their leadership style.
Adamu, a former governor of Nasarawa State, has been embroiled in several controversies since the APC won the presidential election on February 25, 2023.
He had scheduled a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) for Monday, July 17, to prepare for the Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings slated for July 18 and 19, respectively.
However, the meetings were postponed at his request, allegedly due to internal disagreements and power tussle within the party.
The sources said other members of the NWC were displeased with Adamu and Omisore for their lack of transparency in the party’s 2022 Account audit, which they claimed was done and submitted without their knowledge.
The sources said all members of the NWC were in agreement with Tinubu’s decision to sack Adamu and Omisore as the party leaders.
The fate of the planned meetings is now uncertain as the party seeks to resolve its internal crisis.
