Tinubu finally speaks on distribution of rice in Kano, other Northern states
The former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said he is not responsible for the distribution of bags of rice in Kano and other states in the northern part of Nigeria.
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) disclosed this on Friday by his spokesman, Tunde Rahman.
A viral video and pictures showing bags of rice branded with Tinubu’s face with the inscription ‘JAGABA – Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’ being distributed in Kano State, recently made the rounds on social media.
But in the statement, the APC leader denied having anything to do with the initiative.
He, however, commended the efforts of the various groups that were responsible, for their benevolence.
“We have seen the images being circulated of bags of rice depicting Asiwaju’s face being distributed across parts of the North,” the statement said.

“I am not responsible for this initiative but l commends the efforts of the various volunteer groups responsible for this benign act of charity and love for one another, particularly in this Holy month of Ramadan.”
There has been speculation that the former governor of Lagos will contest in the 2023 presidential election.
Although Tinubu has not publicly declared his interest in the highest office in the land, some of his allies and associates have started campaigning for him.
